  • Organizing formal and informal meetings where we discuss the latest trends and challenges in Pricing
  • Sharing industry specific knowledge related to pricing management with interested parties
  • Building a network of industry pricing experts who are easily accessible

APP’s History

Asia Pricing Professionals was established in 2011 by a few pricing practitioners. At first we were just meeting up to share ideas and challenges from our daily jobs. There wasn’t many pricing practitioners in Singapore back then. Most people working with pricing were either doing so in a marketing, finance or product management role.

Not many people had considered to dedicate a full time employee only to pricing and it was so refreshing to actually meet people who were doing the same as we were - and who actually knew exactly what a pricer’s roles and challenges were. We met a few times and decided to invite any pricing practitioners we could find to join us.

Since then a huge number of companies in Asia has started focusing on pricing and today it is a well known profession, just as marketing and sales. APP has grown as well and developed dramatically since when we could all fit in around a meeting table. Today we are more than 1,400 members from all countries in the Asia Pacific region. We are still honoring the principles of being a not for profit organization. Everything we do is done by pricing practitioners for pricing practitioners. We are all volunteers and just as we love working with pricing, we still love meeting up with other practitioners to network, exchange innovative ideas, case stories, best practice and knowledge.

In 2012 we had out first pricing conference in Singapore and in 2013 we had another one - also in Singapore. We believe the first one was a success but we all agreed that we could do better and what we built last year, was certainly a lot better. We are growing and so is pricing in Asia. It is exciting times for all of us who know that that Price is the only one of the 4 P’s which is not a cost.

CHEE KONG (CK), CHUNG MANAGING DIRECTOR OF ACCEVAL AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ASIA PRICING PROFESSIONALS

CK is the Managing Director of Acceval, a Pricing software cum pricing excellence company. Acceval provides “Price Optimization and Margin Management” solution. Prior to founding Acceval, Mr Chung was a Senior Manager at Accenture and Deloitte Consulting. With more than 20 years of work experience, CK has helped various multinational companies in the region, spanning across multiple industries, to transform their business capabilities, especially in delivering pricing excellence capabilities (eg Value Pricing, Deal Optimization, Price Segmentation / Optimization, Transaction Pricing Analytics, Conjoint Pricing Research, Customer Offerings Alignment, etc.) CK has written a number of articles on Pricing Management which were published in regional trade journals. He is also a regular speaker on this topic in regional forums and has delivered speeches as a guest lecturer at MacQuarie University (Australia) and National University of Singapore.

JESPER HANSSON GLOBAL PRICING LEAD OF ORICA AND PRESIDENT OF ASIA PRICING PROFESSIONALS

Jesper is the Global Pricing Lead of Orica and the current President of Asia Pricing Professionals. He is an accomplished pricing practitioner with more than 22 years of extensive experience in finance, controlling, project management, change- and price management projects across multiple functional areas. A large part of his career has been directly linked to pricing projects in the Asia Pacific region. He earned his Higher Commercial Examination from Viborg Business School, a BA in International Trade from Aarhus Business College, a Pre MBA in Strategic Management from Business Institute in Aalborg and is a Certified Pricing Professional with The Professional Pricing Society.

YIP JE CHOONG FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ASIA PRICING PROFESSIONALS

JC is the founder and executive director of Asia Pricing Professionals, a non-profit business networking group whose objective is to increase awareness of pricing management in corporate Asia through membership and seminars. He has over 20 years of work experience spanning industries such as Logistics, Manufacturing, Fast Moving Consumer Goods Distribution and Education with blue-chip multi-nationals in Asia Pacific markets. Much of his past work involves introducing and implementing pricing management practices, processes, and software tools in organisations across Asia Pacific. JC holds a BSc. In Computer Science and Mathematics from Brandon University, Canada. He spent his early working years as a software engineer before making a career change into Marketing and Pricing.

DOMINIC JAMES PRINCIPAL, PRICING SOLUTIONS AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ASIA PRICING PROFESSIONALS

Dominic James is the Principal for Pricing Solutions APAC and an Executive Board Member of Asia Pricing Professionals. He is highly sought after as an expert in pricing, marketing optimisation and sales strategy. A statistician by training, Dominic spent much of his early career managing complex research and analytics projects for large multinationals. He subsequently moved on to take strategic leadership roles in top tier consultancies and world class advertising agencies. For the past 8 years Dominic has focused his energy on large scale international transformation efforts. As an advisor to board level management, he works to inspire and deliver sustained impact across organisations. He earned his MSc, Management Science and Operations Research from the University of Warwick and his BSc, Mathematics, Modelling and Computing from Kingston University. Based in Singapore, Dominic has lived and worked in Asia for 10 years.
